The Iowa football program walked away from Saturday’s game against the Minnesota Gophers victorious. Here are our three top performers from yesterday’s game.

The Iowa football team’s offense was rolling for most of the game yesterday as they put up their highest point total of the season with 48. This offensive dominance helped Iowa secure its first conference win of the season and pushed their overall record to 4-1 before they head to 3-2 Indiana next week.

While the Minnesota Gophers may not be a supremely talented team, this was a big test for the Iowa football team as it was their first road game of their season and it was a rivalry game no less. Furthermore, the Hawkeyes were coming off a bye week after the big Wisconsin loss. This spelled trouble for Iowa entering this game as Minnesota could be a sneaky upset possibility.

Outside of a few boneheaded turnovers by Iowa though, it was smooth sailing for the Hawkeyes as they cruised to a double-digit victory over the Gophers. A few younger guys got some quality experience, Kirk Ferentz showed that he does have some tricks up his sleeve, and Nate Stanley had the Hawkeye offense humming despite an off performance by Iowa’s budding star quarterback.

Needless to say, there were quite a few players and performances to pick from yesterday’s game, but it was a job that had to be done. Here are our three standout performers from Iowa’s victory.
