Iowa football: Noah Fant to Cowboys in latest mock draft
By Andrew Wade
Iowa football tight end Noah Fant included in Matt Miller’s most recent first round mock draft. What pick and what team did Miller have Fant landing?
The love continues for Noah Fant as he was recently included on Matt Miller’s latest first round mock draft. Fant, the starting tight end for the Iowa football team racked up many preseason accolades heading into the 2018 season, and through four games he has not disappointed. The Mackey Award Watch List Nominee and Preseason All-American already has four touchdowns on just 15 catches and set the record for career touchdown catches by an Iowa football tight end.
The junior from Omaha burst on to the scene last year when he hauled in 30 catches for 494 yards and 11 touchdowns. This garnered him third team All-Big Ten honors.
Fant is a big, athletic weapon in the passing game, and despite his below average blocking skills, his tantalizing ability to stretch the field is just too good. No matter who he is facing, he is a mismatch. This skill set let to his inclusion on Jon Ledyard’s preseason big board as the 21st best prospect in the nation.
This week, it led to his inclusion Matt Miller’s first round mock draft. Before taking a look at this work of art put out by one of the best draft analyst’s in the game, note that things can certainly change as will the order of the teams picking.
Miller has Fant heading to the Dallas Cowboys with the 19th overall pick. The Cowboys certainly have a need at the tight end position as does about half the NFL so this makes sense if it were to fall that way. Furthermore, this is right around Fant has been consistently ranked in terms of overall prospects.
Other teams that could be looking tight end early in the draft include the Lions, Texans, Rams, Bengals, Seahawks, Jets, Broncos, and finally the Cardinals.
As we get further into the college football season, more mock drafts will be coming out and we will have you covered with that information here at Dear Old Gold.
