Redshirt freshman running back Kyshaun Bryan confirmed via Twitter this afternoon that he will be transferring from the Iowa football program…

Kyshaun Bryan is no longer a member of the Iowa football program after he tweeted confirmation of reports that came out earlier this weekend expressing his desire to leave the Hawkeye community. Bryan, a former three-star prospect from Saint Thomas Aquinas High School in Florida redshirted in his lone season with the team.

With the running back position relatively in flux with Akrum Wadley’s departure for the NFL last this year, there was a chance if he performed well in camp that Bryan could see playing time this season. Instead, Bryan will be leaving the Iowa football team having never taken a real snap.

Unfortunately, this could be seen coming after Bryan took a leave of absence from the Iowa football team earlier this year for unknown reasons. When questioned about it during the media conference leading up to the Iowa State game, head coach Kirk Ferentz was relatively mum on the subject.

"He’s taking a leave right now, so we’re going to bring him back at bye week and kind of circle back, see where he’s at, and see if he’s more prepared to practice."

The Iowa football team just finished their bye week after a heartbreaking loss to the Badgers last Saturday, and it appears Bryan and the Hawkeyes are ready to move on. Bryan posted this tweet earlier today.

At this time we are unsure of where he plans to continue his football career at next. Coming out of high school, he held offers to 16 other programs including the Michigan Wolverines, the Ohio State Buckeyes, and the Clemson Tigers.

Although it’s sad to see a prospect leave the Iowa football team, Dear Old Gold wishes Bryan the best of luck in his future endeavors. As we receive more news on this situation, we will keep you updated.
