Iowa football: Top three performances from Week 3 against the Panthers
By Andrew Wade
Noah Fant
We at Dear Old Gold haven’t been the easiest on Noah Fant, but with great talent comes great expectations. When you are often talked about as a future first rounder, those expectations rise.
Fant will never be known as a blocker, but in the first two games he struggled as a receiver as well dropping routine passes and not creating enough of a mismatch in the passing game.
Saturday’s night contest was like watching a whole new Noah Fant. He was virtually unstoppable in the first half, and Nate Stanley was locked into him.
Fant would go on to finish the night with five catches for 99 yards and one touchdown.
That touchdown was one of historic value too. It gave the junior out of Nebraska the all-time touchdown record for tight ends at Iowa. That’s a pretty solid list of guys he is ahead of including Tony Moeaki, George Kittle, Dallas Clark, and C.J. Fiedorowicz (all mid-round draft picks).
