The legendary Kinnick Stadium takes the ‘Wave’ a whole step further in this incredible concept in snow.

Kinnick Stadium, home to the Iowa Hawkeye Football Team, created what is called the “Snow Wave.” During the 2017 season of college football, the Iowa Hawkeye football team, and their fans, all waved at the end of the first quarter to the neighboring Children’s Hospital from the University of Iowa. Now that the season is over, there have been waves being sent from social media, etc. Now, they took the inspiration of the incredible tradition a whole step further.

On February 15th, 2018, Kinnick Stadium turned its snowed-in turf into a giant hand with the hashtag “FTK” also known as “For The Kids.” This giant hand was made into a waving motion, pointed directly at the Children’s Hospital for the children and family to see. This goes to show that the tradition lives on, even after football season in the fall.

The Wave is definitely hands down the greatest tradition in college sports, or pro sports, for that matter. Something as simple as a gesture can bring so many feelings and emotions and overall love for such a great cause. This tradition has been nationwide popular ever since the beginning of the 2017 football season. Everyone, and I mean everyone, is touched and truly happy that the Iowa Football program can put on such an inspiring and overall heartwarming tradition that will live on for years and years to come.

The idea to have the Children’s Hospital right beside Kinnick Stadium for kids to watch the games was the best idea ever. Not only are kids now watching their favorite team play, the fans and the team themselves are acknowledging them in a great way that makes the kids feel like they are a huge part of the team, in which they are.
