12. Illinois (12-12, 2-9)
Last Week: 14

For the first time, Illinois is not in the 14th spot in the power rankings.  That was thanks to a two-game winning streak the Illini had.  Illinois followed a victory over Indiana two weeks ago with a home drubbing of Rutgers.  Then on Sunday, as has been the case throughout conference play, Illinois was close throughout but eventually ran out of gas down the stretch in a loss at Ohio State.  This is a tough team but unfortunately the wins have not come for Brad Underwood’s squad this season.

Illinois has two very winnable home games this week.  As mentioned earlier, Illinois will host Wisconsin on Thursday.  That will be followed by another home game.  Sunday night, the Illini will host a suddenly hot Penn State team.  Illinois seems like the type of team that could have a surprise win late in conference play.  This is also a team that could perhaps get a couple upsets in the Big Ten Tournament.
