Michigan State moves up one spot in this week’s power rankings.  It was a very difficult week for the Spartans off the court, but on the court, MSU took care of business in all three of its games.  Michigan State started off the week with a win at Illinois on Monday, followed by a home win against Wisconsin on Friday.  In a quick turnaround, Michigan State looked flat out of the gate on Sunday against Maryland, falling behind 37-24 at halftime.  However, thanks to terrific performances by Joshua Lanford and Cassius Winston, the Spartans scored 50 in the second half en route to a 74-68 win in a raucous environment.

After the three-game swoon a couple weeks back, Michigan State is back to looking like a real player in the National Championship discussion.  Michigan State will have two more games this week.  It starts with a home game against Penn State Wednesday night.  It will be followed by a Saturday night game at Indiana, where ESPN’s College Gameday will be on site.
