This was another close game for the Hawks but luckily, they were able to end up on the winning end. The traditional Floyd of Rosedale game was a good one and was close throughout but at the end, it appeared as if Iowa was about to give it away. But their defense held and kept the Golden Gophers from coming back in the fourth quarter after they produced ten points.

But, Iowa’s offense was stagnant again scoring just 17 points.

What was happening to the offense?

The offensive player of the game was Wadley. He had 73 yards with one touchdown and helped keep the ball moving for the Hawks. Tight end Noah Fant had a touchdown catch as well but Iowa was only able to score two touchdowns overall. Stanley could only put up 190 yards and 45 of those yards came on one pass. It was a concerning effort on offense despite the fact the Hawks won the game.

On defense, the player of the game was Jewell. He had 11 tackles and, again, almost single-handedly kept Minnesota from getting into scoring position to win the game. Jewell proved his value as a leader on defense again and showed that the best unit on this Iowa team was their defense. At least up to the point of this game. Iowa had continually held opponents to low scoring totals while the offense did just enough to not lose the game.

Many fans would agree that the defense was the better unit.

The Hawks came out of the game knowing that they had a huge test the next week against Ohio State. The Buckeyes were one of the best teams in the nation and no one gave Iowa a chance to win.

But fate would intervene and something big would happen in Iowa City on that day.
