Iowa Football Season Review Part I: Games One through Four
Iowa 24 Wyoming 3
The first game of the year saw possible future NFL Draft prospect quarterback Josh Allen come to Iowa City and attempt to showcase his talents. It was not a good day for Allen as he was intercepted twice including one by Joshua Jackson. The defense stepped up while the offense started out struggling a little bit but eventually took off.

They got some three scores from Nate Stanley who gave Hawkeye fans hope for the future with his play. Tight end Noah Fant caught two touchdown passes while Nick Easley took in one helping Iowa put the Cowboys away. Because of his play, Stanley can be called the best player in the game, on offense. Josey Jewell, with his 14 tackles, two and a half sacks and a pass break up earn him the best defender of the game.
The Hawks showed up and set the tone for their upcoming game against the Iowa State Cyclones the next week. They seemed to answer questions on both sides of the ball and looked good enough so that fans felt the season would be a good one. But going against a team like Wyoming wasn’t a good gauge of where the Hawks could be. Those tests would come later.
