The Heisman Trophy puts a player into immortality and college football glory every December. They dazzle us with their play and this season will be no different. The 82nd Heisman winner returns with Lamar Jackson trying to become just the second player ever to repeat.

For the Hawkeyes, no player has captured the award since 1939, when the legendary Nile Kinnick became the fifth ever winner of the award. Since then, Chuck Long and Brad Banks have been the runner-up for the award, but did not get to strike the pose.

This list below contains some of the most talented and hyped players coming into the 2017 season. Some are veterans of the college game that have stacked a laundry list of accomplishments, while others are new to the game, including a true freshmen on the list. Of course, it is entirely possible that a name will emerge that no one saw coming.

Archie Griffin accomplished what is now such an impossible task back in 1974 and 1975. However, there seems to be many reasons why it is so difficult to win the stiff-arm trophy. Without further ado, here are my top 50 candidates to take home the 83rd Heisman.
