Record In 2016: 3-9 (No Bowl Appearance)

Record All Time Vs Illinois: 32-38-2

Lovie Smith’s college debut was rough after inheriting a mess from the Tim Beckman debacle.

Smith brings a young team into 2017 that could be competing with the Boilermakers and Rutgers again from being at the bottom of the conference. Some young talent is being brought in, and it will be interesting to see if Lovie is there to see them become upperclassmen.

Jeff George Jr and Chayce Crouch who is coming off injury are behind center.

It’s never encouraging to be the team scheduled for an opponents Homecoming, and Iowa did exactly that for the young Illini.
