The daily edition of the Morning Brew keeps Iowa Hawkeyes fans updated on the latest news.

In the Iowa Hawkeyes (15-9, 6-5 B10) first game without senior guard Tania Davis, they got a much-needed win over Michigan State (16-8, 6-5 B10), 87-83 in overtime. It moves them into a four-way tie with Michigan State, Indiana and Purdue for fifth in the Big Ten, as well as just 0.5 games behind Northwestern for fourth.

Their 15th win of the season didn’t come without fireworks, though. Iowa, led by Ally Disterhoft‘s 25 points, 12 rebounds and three steals, trailed 19-14 after the first quarter and 33-30 at the half. They benefitted from a 20-11 advantage in the third quarter, but Tori Jankoska struck late in the fourth quarter for Michigan State.

Jankoska scored eight points in the final 1:08, including two threes in the final 15 seconds. Her success continued in overtime as she scored all of Michigan State’s 14 overtime points, ending the game scoring their final 22 points. Jankoska finished the game with 32 points and 11 rebounds, which helped the Spartans overcome just 40 percent shooting from the field.

Iowa needed a team-effort without Davis, and that’s what they got. Five players scored in double-figures and four grabbed at least five rebounds. The Hawkeyes finished the game shooting 44.4 percent from the field and an impressive 43.8 percent from three.

Iowa’s next game is on Sunday. They’ll be at Ohio State on Big Ten Network at 11 a.m.

Tyler Cook is best known for his monstrous dunks in every Iowa game. Although, on Thursday night, his former high school teammate and current Duke Blue Devil, Jayson Tatum, had arguably the dunk of the night over Kennedy Meeks against rival North Carolina.

Cook took to Twitter to show his former teammate some love. Tatum finished the game with 19 points, nine rebounds and five assists in Duke’s 86-78 win.

The NCAA named Thomas Gilman‘s pin over Ethan Lizak last Sunday the performance of the week. Gilman trailed 8-0 to start the match but ended up winning with a pin at 5:58. He’s the top-ranked wrestler in the nation.

The Hawkeyes next meet is on the road Friday at 6 p.m. in Bloomington, Indiana. Iowa is 10-2 on the year, with their only loses coming against the top-two teams in the nation in Oklahoma State and Penn State, and 6-1 in conference play.

Pro Football Focus announced their top 100 players from the 2016 season, and Marshal Yanda, Mike Daniels, and Bryan Bulaga made the list coming in at seven, 68 and 77, respectively. Yanda entered the season as the 16th best player in the league, per PFF, while Daniels dropped from 47th to 68th, but Bulaga joined the ranking after a strong 2016 season.

Tom Brady is the top player in the ranking, while Los Angeles Rams defensive tackle Aaron Donald finished second overall but was the top ranked defensive player.

That said, Yanda was easily the top rated offensive lineman. Atlanta Falcons’ center Alex Mack is the next highest ranked offensive lineman at 16, while the next highest ranked guard is Dallas Cowboys’ Zack Martin at 35.
