Iowa is bringing in an ESPN Top 50 recruit in Tyler Cook, how do you think the Class of 2016 impacts Iowa next season?

Kenny: I expect them to play a much larger role than the 2015 class played this season, more because they have to.  I think Tyler Cook starts and Jordan Bohannon gets significant playing time as well.  I don’t think we see much of Cordell Pemsl or Ryan Kriener next season and I see one of them possibly redshirting, but I do think a couple of the incoming freshman make an impact.

Derek: If progression was guaranteed and linear, we could be talking about this class outperforming every other class that Fran McCaffery has brought in so far over the course of its time at Iowa. Progression is never guaranteed nor is it linear, however, and the question is only about the 2016-17 season.

I expect this group of freshmen to play significant minutes and make significant contributions, but that won’t be without the moments of growing pains. Those moments when inexperience trumps talent might cost the Hawkeyes some leads and maybe even a game or two. This group is still worth putting on the court.

Dylan: This is probably the second best class McCaffery has brought in during his time at Iowa.  Behind the Woodbury and Gesell class, this class probably has the most talent.  It’s highlighted by Tyler Cook, but Jordan Bohannon was Iowa’s Mr. Basketball.  They are going to get thrown into the fire right away, half of them at least.  Bohannon will be forced to back Christian Williams up and Tyler Cook may even start next season.

Overall, I think they’ll have some freshman mistakes, but it’s going to be a nice year for this class.
