Peter Jok is now the leader of this team whether he likes it or not.  Does Pete have it in him?

Kenny: I think so.  Like Jarrod Uthoff, Jok isn’t really a in-your-face, yelling at his players type of guy.  But if Jok can step up and be big time like Uthoff and Aaron White before him, I think the young players will follow his lead.

Derek: If he aspires to start a career in the National Basketball Association after his senior season, he had better prove that he can be the leader of a team of underclassmen in the Big 10. We have seen moments in which he showed the capability of carrying a team, and other times during which he disappeared.

Becoming a difference-maker on a consistent basis is a difficult thing to do, and what it takes to get there can vary greatly from individual to individual. I think he finds a way to keep the switch flipped on, and becomes the leader that the Hawkeyes need in 2016-17.

Dylan: He’s going to have to cool it with the boneheaded mistakes if this is going to happen.  He was near the top of the Big Ten in scoring and steals this past season, so that shouldn’t be an issue for him, but he’s going to have to get better on the dribble drive and keeping his man in front of him.

He improved on the defensive end this past season, but could still do a better job.  One thing he absolutely can’t do next year is become passive as we saw Uthoff do a couple times last year.  Jok is going to have to take a majority of the shots and he can’t be afraid to do so.
