The Iowa Basketball team has a pretty good recruiting class coming in next season and it’s highlighted by Tyler Cook.  However, Jordan Bohannon opens eyes as well.  He was named Iowa’s Mr. Basketball on Tuesday.

What a family.

When Jordan steps on the court for the Iowa Hawkeyes next winter, he’ll be the fourth Bohannon to play division one basketball.  His brother Zach played ball at Air Force and Wisconsin, Jason played at Wisconsin as well, and Matt is currently a senior at the University of Northern Iowa.

Jordan now has something he can toss in the faces of his brothers, outside of Jason, which is being named Mr. Basketball in Iowa.  In fact, Jordan and Jason are the first brothers to ever be named Mr. Basketball in the state of Iowa.  Jason won the award back in 2006.

Jordan averaged nearly 26 points per game in his senior season to go along with 5.3 rebounds.  He shot 48 percent from the field, 43 percent from three point range, and 92 percent from the free throw line.  Clearly he can shoot, which is something that runs in the family.

Jordan made 92 three point field goals this season, which was tops in 4A, and tied for the school record.  And of course, he tied his brother Jason.

Jordan will be coming to Iowa City and will most likely be expected to play right away. And that is Jordan’s goal, in fact, he wants to start right away.

It’s going to be Jordan and then-to-be sophomore, Christian Williams, battling for minutes at the point guard spot.  I don’t think it’s going to matter considering you have two very different players in Williams and Bohannon.

Williams is going to be more of a drive and kick kind of point guard, whereas Bohannon will be more of a shooting point guard, which is something Iowa hasn’t had in a while.

There could possibly be times when Williams and Bohannon both see the floor, especially with how good of a shooter Jordan is.  If Williams is able to get into the lane and kick it out, Jordan could have a lot of open shots.  When you consider teams will be keying in on Peter Jok, Bohannon could have some big games because we know he has the ability to hit the outside shot.
