6. Maryland (24-7, 12-6)
Last Week: 5

Some people may think I am a Maryland hater for continuously having the Terrapins this low, but something is missing whenever I see this team play.  Sure, they crushed Illinois on Thursday, but again got crushed 80-62 in its regular season finale against Indiana.

The good news for Maryland is that Melo Trimble and Jake Layman both played well in that game, but the result was not any different.  I am having a hard time figuring out how people still believe that, at this particular time, Maryland is a legit national championship contender, I just don’t see it.

Maryland earned the 3rd seed in the Big Ten tournament and received a double bye.  They will play either Wisconsin or the winner of the Nebraska vs Rutgers game in its first tournament game.  I think Maryland is the team that can most benefit from the Big Ten tournament.  A good showing there might give them some confidence towards a deep NCAA tournament run.
