Now that National Signing Day has pretty much come to a close, lets take a look at the top 5 gets for the Iowa Hawkeyes this year.

No. 5 – AMANI HOOKER

Hooker is a three star prospect rated by Rivals out of Brooklyn Park, MN.  Hooker did a little bit of everything for Park Center High as he returned kicks, played safety, quarterback, and wide receiver.  He’s very quick and has great downhill speed.  He’ll undoubtedly play safety when he arrives on campus, but will need to beef up a bit.  He stands 6’1″ and weighs 195 pounds currently.

Hooker may challenge for a starting spot after he redshirts a season, which I assume he will do.  Although, we do not know for sure.  Just watching him on film, you can tell he has great instincts.  He shows the ability to get downhill very quickly and into the backfield, tackling runners for a loss.  He went a little under the radar seeing as his only other major offers were from Minnesota and Iowa State.

Hooker should have no problem adjusting to the Hawkeye way once he gets his feet wet.  Give him a full season in Coach Chris Doyle’s program and he’ll beef up to about 210 pounds and be ready to play the safety position in the Big Ten.
