Seth Wallace found out on Friday evening that he’d been given a promotion.  Wallace did a heck of a job as the teams recruiting coordinator, now he’s their linebacker’s coach.

After being named recruiting coordinator in June of 2014, Seth Wallace will have a new job in the Iowa football program.  On Friday evening, it was announced that Wallace would take the place of Jim Reid, who departed for the defensive coordinator spot at Boston College, and become the teams new linebacker’s coach, per the program.

Wallace served on the Iowa staff as a graduate assistant from 2006-08.  He later left for division two Valdosta State University.  Wallace served as the teams defensive coordinator from 2011-13.  He also coached the defensive line in 2013 and the defensive backs from 2009-12.

During his time at Valdosta State, they won the NCAA Division 2 national championship in 2012 and ranked in the top 25 percent in several different defensive categories.

More from Dear Old Gold

From what I’ve seen, Wallace is very respected around the Iowa football program.  He’s also very well respected by a lot of media members.

Wallace is responsible for the commitments of Amani Hooker, Nate Stanley, and Kristian Welch in the Class of 2016.  He’s also responsible for Juan Harris in the Class of 2017.

After starting as a graduate assistant and working in division two for a while, I’d say Seth has paid his dues and is very deserving of his new role.

Seth shouldn’t have any issues with success as the teams new linebacker’s coach.

Congratulations, Seth!
