Sam Logic Records Triple Double, Hawkeyes Roll Drake
By Dylan Burn
Hawkeye senior point guard, Samantha Logic, stole the show at Carver Hawkeye Arena on Saturday evening. Logic recorded a triple double in Iowa’s 73-51 rout of the Drake Bulldogs. Logic’s performance should come as no surprise to Hawkeyes fans, she’s been so good all year long a game like this was bound to happen.
Iowa only led the game by 4 points going into the half. It was a bit of an odd night for the Hawkeyes and I’m not the only one that noticed.
As you can see they hardly got to the free throw line at all, shot poorly from behind the arc, which is something that they don’t usually do, and one of their best players, Bethany Doolittle, had just 6 points. While Doolittle didn’t impact the game on the offensive side of the ball, the center had 7 blocks on the night.
Iowa excelled in the second half outscoring the Bulldogs by 18 in the second 20 minutes. They were able to hold Drake to under 30% from the field, which is another reason for the 22 point differential.
Logic led the Hawkeyes with 10 points, 17 rebounds, and 10 assists. No, that is not a typo, Logic actually had 17 rebounds and the best past about it all is she’s the point guard. She truly is a special player.
The other Hawkeyes that found themselves in double figures were, Ally Disterhoft, who had 17 points off the bench and Melissa Dixon, who had 13 points.
Iowa now pushes their record to 11-2 and 8-0 at home. The Hawkeyes will have to wait a week before seeing the floor again. They will host North Dakota next Saturday in an afternoon contest. The game is scheduled to start at 2:00 p.m. CT.
