Welcome to Dear Old Gold, the new Iowa Sports Blog

I would like to say hello and thank you for joining me on the newest Iowa Sports Blog, Dear Old Gold. Let me first introduce myself, and no my name is not Humpty. I’m Trent Condon, a Hawkeye fan from birth. I grew up during the roaring 80s, a time where Iowa basketball and football ruled the state and were a national brand. Top ranked teams in both sports, all of the games being broadcasted across the state, I found the games and was hooked. I started getting season tickets to Iowa football as a high school junior, making the drive down from my hometown of Osage and cheering on the Hawkeyes (along with having some fun with my college friends before and after the games). I hope to bring my passion to this blog and have a place to throw out my thoughts, ideas and have brained ideas.

If my name sounds familiar, it may be from radio. I cohost Mouth of the Midwest from 3-6 every weekday on ESPN 1700 The Champ in Des Moines. You can hear me there talking the world of sports with a local angle.

My hope is that this blog can became a great place for people to come and debate what it happening in Iowa City with our beloved Hawkeyes. I can sometimes become fired up and try not to be a fanboy at all times. We can come here to discuss, yell and scream at each other, while trying to stay somewhat civil. One last thing, Go Hawks!
