The Iowa football team continued to build on their impressive class of 2020 with the signing of Oak Lawn, Illinois product Leshon Williams.

You could have blinked and missed the big-time developments that took place over the last 24 hours for the Iowa football team.

The Iowa football team extended an offer to 5’10” and 205 pounds running back Leshon Williams out of Oak Lawn, Illinois Wednesday afternoon.

A day later, the Hawkeyes had secured their 10th overall commitment in the class of 2020.

The outpour of support from Twitter was quick and impressive with former Iowa football player and current Tennessee Titan Amani Hooker even jumping into the fray to show love to Williams.

With this commitment, the Iowa football team is currently ranked 16th in the nation, which is pretty impressive given the Hawk’s historical placement in recruiting rankings.

Williams currently possesses offers from 15 other schools, with Kansas State being the only other Power-5 offer.

On the tape, Leshon Williams shows an impressive burst at the second level and is unafraid to lower his shower and carry someone a few yards. Moreover, he made the first defender miss almost every single highlight with quick and purposeful side steps and jukes. The only interesting thing I saw on the tape is that he took all of his handoffs out of a shotgun formation, which is typical for high school spread concepts, and he was quick to bounce the run outside.

Joining the Iowa football program, unless things drastically change, Williams will be asked to carry the load with a blocking fullback and a full head of steam as he will likely be lining up deep in the backfield behind the quarterback. If nothing else, this should help him.

The Illinois native is the second running back commit in the class of 2020 as he joins Dowling Catholic’s Gavin Williams.

Next. Hawks approaching recruiting the right way. dark

As it stands today, the Iowa football team has three outstanding scholarship offers remaining for running backs, but that is likely to slow down with this latest commit.
