The daily edition of the Morning Brew keeps Iowa Hawkeyes fans updated on the latest news.

With National Signing Day tomorrow, a lot of recruits are making verbal commits. Yesterday, the Iowa Hawkeyes landed three more recruits in their 2017 class to bring them to 18.

Two-star linebacker Nate Wieland was the first to commit to Iowa. Wieland played quarterback at Iowa City High but will switch to linebacker at Iowa. He probably won’t see a lot of playing time as a freshman considering the defensive players the Hawkeyes are bringing back in 2017.

That said, Wieland is athletic and has good size to even possibly switch to another position later on. He adds a lot of depth and versatility to the Hawkeyes.

Then, three-star Georgia defensive back Trey Creamer switched his commitment from Minnesota to the Iowa Hawkeyes. 247Sports had Iowa as his third most likely option behind Rutgers and Minnesota. Creamer is a great addition for Iowa considering they are losing both Desmond King and Greg Mabin.

To cap off the night, three-star Florida running back Kyshaun Bryan committed to the Hawkeyes. With LeShun Daniels Jr graduating, Derrick Mitchell Jr transferring and Eno Benjamin decommitted and committing to Arizona State, this is a position the Hawkeyes needed to recruit well in. They did so by adding Bryan to go along with Ivory Kelly-Martin.

According to 247Sports, Iowa now has the 37th best recruiting class in the nation and seventh best in the Big Ten. The Hawkeyes started the day outside the top 50 and 12th in the conference. Iowa should land a couple of more recruits tomorrow and on National Signing Day to bring their total to 20-plus.

Iowa basketball star guard Peter Jok released a statement on Instagram regarding Donald Trump’s immigration ban. He concluded his statement by saying, “I hope the order is reversed soon, because America that I know is a land of opportunities and inclusion. I am praying for all those affected by it.”

Iowa basketball is back in action tonight on Big Ten Network against Rutgers. Tipoff is at 6:00 p.m. The Hawkeyes beat Rutgers 68-62 at home earlier this year. There is no indication if Jok will start after he sat out of Iowa’s last game against Ohio State.

Despite losing to third-ranked Maryland 100-81 last week, Iowa women’s basketball stayed in Charlie Creme of ESPN’s NCAA Tournament Bracketology. The Hawkeyes are the second to last team in with Northwestern being the last team in. They’re a projected 10 seed in the Stockton Region against projected seven seed Missouri.

The Big Ten named Iowa Gymnast Melissa Zurawski Co-Gymnast of the week with Michigan’s Nicole Artz.
