Oh boy am I late on this. Kirk Ferentz and his Iowa coaching staff have decided upon their depth chart going into spring football. Not much has changed going in with all the running backs back and a big offensive lineman, but there is a certain tight end that is missing that Hawkeye fans will miss this year.
Lets take a look at the offensive depth chart going into the spring.
QB: Jake Rudock, C.J. Beathard.
RB: Mark Weisman, Jordan Canzeri, Damon Bullock, Leshun Daniels Jr.
WR: Keyvonte Martin-Manley, Matt Vandeberg
WR: Jacob Hillyer, Damond Powell
SE: Tevaun Smith, Derrick Willies
TE: Ray Hamilton, Jake Duzey
LT: Brandon Scherff (shocker), Boone Meyers
LG: Sean Welsh, Ryan Ward
RG: Jordan Walsh, Eric Simmons
RT: Andrew Donnal, Cole Croston
The biggest surprise on this list is definitely left guard, Sean Welsh. He’s a redshirt freshman and it looks like he’s playing his way into a starting role this upcoming fall if everything holds up. But so far, he’s bee impressive.
That gives you a little preview of the offensive side of the ball. The defensive side will come tomorrow morning on Dear Old Gold.
