Iowa Up A Slot After 1-1 Week

After a week in which they were up and down, the Iowa Hawkeyes bumped up a slot to number 16 in the latest AP Poll.

Now, when I say up and down, you guys should know it was probably as low as Iowa has been all year and then about as high as they have been all year.

In my opinion, the game against Ohio State on Tuesday night was one of, if not the worst game Iowa has played all year.  They looked slow on the defensive side of the ball and shot so poorly it was really hard to watch.

Fast forward 4 days later, and the Iowa Hawkeyes looked about as good as they have all year long in their 18 point drubbing of the the 10th ranked Michigan Wolverines.

Obviously a lot of it was sparked by Roy Devyn Marble and his 22 first half points, but the defense was incredible, Zach McCabe finally came around with his 7 points and 6 rebounds, and the emotion and energy just seemed different.  They actually looked like they were enjoying themselves out there.

Iowa will now have the entire week off before they are back at it again this upcoming Saturday against the Penn State Nittany Lions, who just so happen to be at the bottom of the conference with a 3-8 conference record, but don’t let that fool you.

Just a couple of weeks ago this team went to Columbus and defeated the Ohio State Buckeyes.  If their guard play holds up with Tim Frazier and D.J. Newbill, Iowa could struggle a little bit with them.  It’s always tough to win on the road in this conference, so Iowa will need to bring everything they’ve got.
