It’s a couple of days overdue, but Brandon Scherff, the left tackle for this past years Outback Bowl bound Iowa Hawkeyes will return to school for his senior year. Sherff would have likely been a first round pick, but according to the Cedar Rapids Gazette, Scherff met with Head Coach Kirk Ferentz and Brian Ferentz on Sunday afternoon to discuss what he was going to do.
“I had an idea in my head before my family and I met with [the Ferentzes],” – Brandon Scherff, CBSSports.com
Scherff was an All-Big Ten selection this past year and boy did he deserve it. Scherff did an excellent job protecting first year starting quarterback Jake Rudock‘s blindside. I’m sure Rudock along with the Ferentz’s are about the happiest people in Iowa City at this point in time.
If Scherff does what he did last year, there is no doubt in my mind that he’ll be taken in the first round of the 2015 NFL Draft.
With all of this speculation out of the way, Scherff, and the rest of the Hawkeyes will now turn their attention to New Years Day when Iowa will take on the LSU Tigers in the 2014 Outback Bowl.
