IOWA CITY, Iowa — The University of Iowa men’s and women’s basketball teams will make their first public appearance of 2013-14 on Friday, Oct. 25, in the Black & Gold Blowout. The event will take place in Carver-Hawkeye Arena, starting at 8 p.m. with the doors opening at 7 p.m. The event will take place the evening before the Iowa-Northwestern football game in Iowa City.
Tickets to the event — on sale at the UI Ticket Office — are $5 for adults and free for UI students and youth 18-and-under. All seating is general admission.
Fans are encouraged to arrive early as there will be a number of prizes awarded to fans. Also, both teams will sign autographs at the end of the event for 30 minutes.
The men’s team returns 12 letterwinners, including four starters, and welcomes three newcomers to a squad that won 25 games a year ago and advanced to the National Invitation Tournament championship game.
The women’s team returns eight letterwinners and adds three newcomers to a team that went 21-13 last year and made its Big Ten-best sixth-consecutive NCAA Tournament appearance.
