Senior linebacker Anthony Hitchens led the team with 10 tackles as the defense held Iowa State to 59 yards rushing. For his effort, he was named College Sports Madness’ Defensive Player of the Week. Hitchens ranks second in the Big 10 in tackles per game. . . . Cornerback Desmond King is one of only three freshman to play this season, seeing action in all three games to date. King is the first freshman to start at corner since Javon Johnson in 2002. . . Iowa has rushed for more than 200 yards in each of the first three games. The last time that happened was the start of the 2002 season. . . Quarterback Jake Rudock has rushed for a touchdown in each of the first three games, becoming the first player in Iowa history to do so. . . Running back Mark Weisman leads the nation in rushing attempts with 85 and is 21 ahead of Ohio State’s Jordon Hall in the Big 10. Weisman’s 425 total yards ranks third in the country.
